A musically visual metronome that focuses on inspiring musical expression rather than mechanical execution. When using this metronome during practice, the animated beat patterns aim to strengthen the peripheral vision essential for following a conductor.
Practice without the audible click while maintaining a strict tempo, understanding your position within the beat through the traditional musical beat patterns rooted in centuries of musical performance practice, avoiding arbitrary movements and circles, adaptable to various meters and styles.
This metronome proves to be an invaluable learning tool for conductors, especially when utilizing the Conductor's Point of View. The conducting patterns are based on Max Rudolf's "Grammar of Conducting" and boast over 20 years of professional conducting experience.
Instructions:
- Double-tap to start. Swipe horizontally or pinch to stop.
- Long press triggers Tap Tempo; tap more than twice anywhere to set the tempo. Afterward, patiently wait for it to commence conducting.
Features:
- Adjust the tempo from 16 to 256 bpm by dragging up/down anywhere, utilizing the + and - buttons, or tapping via Tap Tempo.
- Includes 48 diverse beat patterns (meters) ranging from 1 through 12 (3+3+3+3).
- Variety of pattern styles: Staccato, Neutral, Legato, and Reduced.
- Display options for patterns from Performer's or Conductor's Point of View.
- Optional subdivisions of 2, 3, or 4 beats per measure.
- Select 0, 1, or 2 'pick-up' beats to start playing promptly.
Preferences:
- Choose from 16 pairs of 'tick' and 'tock' sounds.
- Personalize colors of the baton, pattern, and texts to suit individual preferences.
- Adjust transparencies of the beat pattern and background image as desired.
A note on pattern variations and reductions:
In a 5/4 bar, it can be divided into either 3+2 or 2+3 depending on the musical requirements.
The 'Reduced' style: As tempo increases, a legato 3-pattern simplifies into a single pattern while maintaining three beats. For instance, a 6(2+2+2) becomes 3 and a 6(3+3) turns into 2 while still maintaining six beats. The Automatic Reduction feature adjusts patterns automatically at specific tempos. Enabling the Reduced Pattern switch enforces this simplification consistently at all tempos.
In Conductor's Point of View mode, the beat pattern is automatically flipped for conducting practice, aiding in learning conductors' movement paths with their baton. Alternatively, the Performer's Point of View showcases conductor's gestures as observed by ensemble musicians, ideal for instrumental practice.
Supports all orientations for ease of use when connected to an external source.
